Hunter Biden didn’t hold back during a sit-down interview, erupting in a profanity-laced tirade aimed at actor George Clooney. The outburst stemmed from Clooney’s public criticism of then-President Joe Biden during the 2024 election cycle.
“F–- him, f–- him, f–- him and everybody around him. I don’t have to be f—- nice,” Hunter Biden said.
Biden expressed outrage over Clooney’s decision to call on his father to exit the race.
“What do you have to do with anything? Why do I have to listen to you?” he said. “What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his life to the service of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take basically a full-page ad in The New York Times to undermine the president?”
New media appearances and repeated jabs
On Monday, July 21, Hunter Biden appeared on YouTube personality Andrew Callaghan’s web series Channel 5 and on former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison’s new podcast, “At Our Table.” In both appearances, he delivered the same message directed at Clooney.
“I love George Clooney’s movies, but I don’t really give a s— about who he thinks should be the nominee for the Democratic Party,” he said.
Fallout from the 2024 debate
The disdain for Clooney stems from an op-ed the actor wrote in The New York Times in July 2024. In it, Clooney urged Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race following his widely criticized debate performance against Donald Trump.
Clooney claimed that the president didn’t recognize him at a fundraising event, prompting the actor to question Biden’s mental acuity and political viability. The op-ed warned Democrats would lose the election if Biden remained the nominee.
Hunter Biden, however, offered his own explanation for what happened during that June 2024 debate, citing exhaustion and sleep medication.
“I’ll tell you what, I know exactly what happened in that debate. He flew around the world basically — the mileage he could have flown around the world three times. He’s 81 years old. He’s tired as s—. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep. He gets up on the stage, and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights,” Biden said on Channel 5.
Support for Harris, criticism of the party
Hunter Biden has remained vocal in his support of his father while also praising former Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she would have made a great president.
Still, he criticized the Democratic Party’s handling of the 2024 election cycle as the party now looks ahead to its future leadership going into 2028. Other targets included Democratic strategists James Carville, David Axelrod and David Plouffe.
