Chasefu Town Council has signed contracts worth K4.83 million for three development projects covering healthcare, feeder roads and council infrastructure.

The projects include the construction of a radiology department, the hiring of a motor grader for road works and the first phase of a new office block at the council’s civic centre.

According to a statement issued by the council on Thursday, October 22, the three contracts have a combined value of K4,831,894.01.

The largest contract, valued at K1.9 million, was awarded to Kiprique Construction Supplier and General Dealers for Phase One of the civic centre office block. The project is expected to take 16 weeks.

Alideate Sky Investment Limited was awarded a K1.48 million contract to construct a radiology department, with completion expected within 12 weeks.

The council said the facility would strengthen diagnostic services and reduce the need for patients to travel to distant facilities, including those in Lundazi, for radiology services.

Meanwhile, Rutch Contractors and General Dealers secured a K1.45 million contract to hire a motor grader for feeder road works. The project, funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), is expected to run for 90 days.

The council said the road works were intended to improve access to markets, schools and health facilities while supporting economic activity across the district.

Speaking at the contract-signing ceremony, Council Chairperson Emmanuel Zgambo urged the contractors to maintain professional standards, deliver quality work and remain accountable throughout implementation.

Council Secretary Oblly Banda also called on the contractors to complete the projects within the agreed timelines and meet the required quality standards.

Deputy Director of Engineering Services Bright Mwila urged the contractors to comply with the terms and conditions of their contracts, while Senior Legal Assistant Isaac Katyetye stressed the importance of paying workers to protect the council’s reputation.

The contracts were signed at the Chasefu Town Council Civic Centre.
