Learners at Susa Primary School in Chasefu North Constituency have received temporary shelter after Vice President Mutale Nalumango intervened following concerns over the school’s damaged roof.
Independent Member of Parliament for Chasefu North, Captain Towani Chipeta, has thanked the Vice President for responding quickly to the school’s situation by arranging for tents to be provided while the roof awaits replacement.
Chipeta said the assistance would help provide shelter for pupils as efforts to address the damage continue. She added that the learners had expressed appreciation for the support.
The MP said she raised the matter during discussions with Nalumango on 15 October 2026, during a break in the National Assembly sitting. The meeting also covered wider development issues affecting the constituency.
According to Chipeta, the Vice President immediately directed the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit, through its National Coordinator, to arrange temporary shelter for the school.
The MP described the response as an example of the importance of leaders working together to address community needs, regardless of political differences.
She thanked the Vice President and the Government for the intervention, pledging to continue advocating for the people of Chasefu North.
Chipeta said she remained committed to serving her constituents, adding that political differences should not stand in the way of addressing challenges affecting ordinary people.
