Hakainde Hichilema to be Inaugurated September 1st, 2026

President-elect Hakainde Hichilema will be sworn in as President of Zambia on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the Cabinet Office has announced.
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says the seven-day window for filing a petition against the presidential election result has expired.
In a statement, Kangwa said the inauguration will proceed in line with Article 105 of the Constitution of Zambia, Act No. 2 of 2016. The venue for the ceremony will be announced at a later date.
