KALABA ENGAGES EU OBSERVERS, FLAGS CONCERNS OVER ELECTORAL CALENDAR AND ECZ COMPOSITION

Lusaka – Citizens First President Harry Kalaba has met with the European Union Election Observer Mission to Zambia to discuss key concerns ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

The meeting, held at the InterContinental Hotel in Lusaka, was also attended by the party’s Acting Secretary General, Dr. Kasese Botha.

In the engagement, Kalaba raised concerns regarding the electoral calendar and the composition of the Electoral Commission of Zambia. He noted that the current calendar creates challenges for other political parties, as presidential activities scheduled in the provinces often lead to disruptions of planned campaign programs.

He further observed that the current composition of the ECZ raises questions about the commission’s independence and its ability to administer the elections impartially.

Kalaba emphasized that a credible electoral process requires a level playing field for all participants. He reaffirmed Citizens First’ commitment to peaceful engagement and constructive participation throughout the election period.
