LWSC TO EXPAND BULK WATER SUPPLY TO LUSAKA SOUTH MULTI-FACILITY ECONOMIC ZONE

The Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company is moving to strengthen water security for industrial development with a new bulk water supply project for the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone. Announced on August 6, 2026, the project will include the construction of a 15-kilometre bulk water pipeline, electromechanical upgrades at Libala Water Works, and new storage facilities within the economic zone.

Once completed, the infrastructure is expected to deliver an initial 10,000 cubic metres of treated water per day to industries in LS-MFEZ, while also improving supply reliability for surrounding communities. The investment is being delivered through a Public-Private Partnership between LWSC and LS-MFEZ, and is aimed at meeting rising demand driven by increased industrial activity. LWSC said dependable water supply is critical for manufacturing, commercial operations and business expansion.

According to LWSC Managing Director Engineer Jilly Chiyombwe, water infrastructure plays a central role in driving trade, investment and economic growth. He noted that the company remains committed to working with government, the private sector and cooperating partners to expand water infrastructure that supports both residential and industrial development. The LS-MFEZ Bulk Water Supply Project is among several strategic investments by LWSC intended to strengthen water security and support the long-term development of Lusaka Province.
