Pastor Jimmy Kay Dragged to High Court Over Fally Ipupa Show Dispute

A businessman has sued media personality and social media clergyman Jimmy Kumwenda, popularly known as Pastor Jimmy Kay, in the High Court over an alleged breach of contract relating to last year's Fally Ipupa concerts.

According to court documents, Enock Mashilipa claims he provided US$20,000 in February 2025 after Pastor Jimmy Kay allegedly approached him for urgent financial support to help secure the Congolese musician's performances at Ciela Resort and Polo Fields.

Mr Mashilipa further alleges that he spent more than K30,000 on logistics after being promised an equal share of profits from ticket sales and vendor revenue.

However, he claims Pastor Jimmy Kay later entered into another agreement with businessman Isaac Ilunga without his knowledge.

According to the court documents, Mr Mashilipa says he actively participated in planning through a financiers' WhatsApp group before allegedly being removed from the group and blocked after requesting financial statements and accountability following the concerts.

He also alleges that he was required to purchase a ticket to attend one of the concerts despite having contributed financially to the event.

Mr Mashilipa further claims that he was later informed the concerts had made a loss and that there were no profits to distribute.

He is now asking the High Court to order Pastor Jimmy Kay and Mr Ilunga to:

Refund the US$20,000 he says he invested;Repay the more than K30,000 allegedly spent on logistics; Pay him K10 million, which he claims represents his share of the concert profits; Pay interest and any other relief the court may deem appropriate.

The matter is before the High Court.
