Police Arrest Lusaka Man Over Alleged Incest Case

A Lusaka man has been arrested after an 18-year-old woman alleged in a video circulated on social media that her biological father had sexually abused her.

The Zambia Police Service says the video, which circulated on September 24, prompted investigations that led officers to establish the identity and whereabouts of the suspect.

Police say preliminary investigations indicate that the man allegedly had sexual intercourse with his daughter on several occasions between July and September 2026 in Lusaka District.

The woman reportedly left home following the alleged incidents and began living on the streets.

Police officers from the Child Protection Unit, working with her family, later located her, while the Department of Social Welfare has been engaged to provide support services.

The suspect was apprehended in Chazanga Compound on September 28 and remains in police custody.

Police say he is being investigated for alleged incest, contrary to Section 159 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

The suspect's exact age has not yet been established.

Police have urged members of the public to report suspected cases of sexual abuse to the nearest police station.

The service has also warned the public against sharing information, images or videos that could reveal the identity of the young woman or expose her to further trauma.

The allegations have not been tested in court, and the suspect has not been convicted of any offence.
