Police in Western Province have arrested the second suspect linked to the brutal murder and aggravated robbery of a taxi driver in Mongu District, bringing to a close a months-long manhunt.
The suspect, Emmanuel Kashweka Zelelengwe (41), was apprehended in the early hours of 12 July in Kaywala Area of Kaoma District after police acted on intelligence.
He is accused of being involved in the murder of Isaac Fobolo Musenge (42), a taxi driver whose body was discovered in Mawawa Area on 22 March 2026.
According to police, Mr. Musenge sustained multiple injuries, including deep cuts to the neck and forehead, while his legs had been tied with wire before his body was dumped.
Investigators say the suspects allegedly stole the deceased's Toyota Wish, drove it to Lusaka and stripped it of several spare parts before the vehicle was later recovered by police.
A 17-year-old juvenile, who is also linked to the case, was arrested in May and transferred to Mongu to face the law.
Commenting on the latest arrest, Western Province Commissioner of Police Rae Hamoonga said the breakthrough demonstrates that police remain committed to ensuring that fugitives are brought to justice.
"We will stop at nothing until every fugitive is behind bars," Commissioner Hamoonga said.
He warned that criminals should not assume they can evade justice by fleeing to other districts or provinces, adding that the Zambia Police Service will continue using every lawful means available to trace and apprehend offenders.
Police have also appealed to members of the public to continue providing information that can assist in the fight against crime.
