Police Hunt Chipata College Lecturer Over Alleged Defilement of Niece

Police in Chipata have launched a manhunt for a 55-year-old lecturer at Chipata College of Education who is accused of repeatedly defiling his 15-year-old niece and giving her morning-after pills to conceal the abuse.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Roberson Mweemba, confirmed the incident to Journalists.

He identified the suspect as Frank Msoni of Chipata College of Education staff compound.

According to police, the offences occurred between February and July 18, 2026, at the suspect’s home where the victim had been staying with her uncle and his family.

Mr. Mweemba said the suspect allegedly threatened to send the girl back to her unemployed mother if she refused his sexual advances.

It is alleged that the suspect first defiled the teenager at the end of February 2026, before giving her a morning-after pill and warning her not to tell anyone.

Similar incidents are reported to have occurred again in April and on July 18, 2026, with the suspect reportedly administering morning-after pills after each incident.

The matter came to light on July 26, 2026, when the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother, who subsequently reported the case to Chipata Central Police Station.

The victim was issued with a medical report form and referred to Chipata Central Hospital for medical examination.

Mr. Mweemba said the suspect had not been arrested by the time of filing this report, but police have instituted investigations and are pursuing the suspect to bring him to justice.
