UPND Retains Majority as ECZ Releases List of Elected MPs After 2026 Polls

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has released the full list of Members of Parliament elected in the 2026 General Election, confirming the United Party for National Development as the largest party in the National Assembly.

According to the ECZ provincial lists, UPND secured 137 of the 226 elected seats, a working majority of 24 above the 114 needed to control the House. The New Republican Party for United Progress follows with 58 seats, making it the principal opposition bloc. Independents took 20 seats, the Republican Party 5, the Citizens First 2, and the Zambia Must Prosper party 1. Three constituencies, Lumezi North in Eastern Province, Mandevu in Lusaka and Mpanda in Northern Province, are listed without a declared party.

The results show a sharply regional pattern. UPND swept the south and west, taking 28 of 29 seats in Southern Province, 24 of 26 in Western and 15 of 19 in North-Western, where it faced no NRPUP challenge at all. NRPUP's support is concentrated in the north and east, with 53 of its 58 seats coming from Eastern, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and Copperbelt provinces. Northern Province was the most closely contested, splitting 8 seats each between the two parties.

By the ECZ's own constituency records, the elected House is 192 male and 32 female, with two seats yet to be declared. The document details winners by province, district and constituency across all ten provinces.

The lists also confirm several boundary changes under the new delimitation. Chama district now falls under Eastern Province, and Itezhi-Tezhi and Chirundu under Southern, though all three retain constituency codes from their former provinces.
