Closing 23 August 2026
A three-month internship position, based in Zambia. Open to anyone with a Grade 12 certificate.
About the role
About the role
Muvi TV is looking for a Reporter Intern to join our newsroom for three months. You will work with our editorial team on the stories that reach our website audience and our 1.5 million followers on Facebook.
This is a hands-on role. From your first week you will be writing, checking facts, and watching the news cycle with us. We are not looking for someone who already knows everything. We are looking for someone who wants to learn how a real newsroom works and is willing to put in the effort.
Responsibilities
Write news stories, short reports and social media copy for the Muvi
TV website and Facebook page
Monitor breaking news, court proceedings, press briefings and government statements
Verify information before it is published, including checking names, titles, figures and quotes
Assist senior reporters and producers with research and background material
Help gather content in the field, including photos, short clips and voice notes recorded on a phone
Follow up on audience comments, tip-offs and story leads
Support the newsroom with bulletin research and script preparation
Requirements
Minimum qualification
A Grade 12 certificate. That is all we require.
You do not need a degree, a diploma or previous newsroom experience. If you can write and you are willing to work, we want to hear from you.
Preferred experience
What we are looking for
Clear, correct written English and the ability to write quickly under deadline pressure
Confident use of a computer, including typing, word processing, email and file management
Confident use of a smartphone and social media platforms, especially Facebook, WhatsApp, X and TikTok
Comfort with online research and search tools
Accuracy and honesty. In news, getting it right matters more than getting it first
Curiosity about Zambian politics, business, sport, culture and everyday life
Willingness to take direction, accept edits and work as part of a team
Reliability and good timekeeping
How to apply
Record a video introducing yourself. Tell us who you are, why you want this internship, and what you would bring to Muvi TV.
Be creative with it. This is not a formal interview and we are not looking for someone reading from a script in a stiff voice. Shoot it however you like. Use your phone. Edit it, or do not edit it. Show us your neighbourhood, your desk, your work, your personality. Make us remember you.
For the Reporter Intern role, we are listening for how you think and how you communicate. For the Multimedia Content Intern role, treat the video as your first piece of work for us.
Two minutes is the maximum. Shorter is fine.
