Ballot Papers for 2026 General Election Begin Arriving Sunday

LUSAKA – Ballot papers for Zambia's 2026 General Election will begin arriving in the country on Sunday, July 26, ahead of next month's polls.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the ballot papers will be flown in from Dubai aboard a chartered aircraft and are expected to arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 12:15 hours.

In a statement, ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga said a total of six flights carrying ballot papers will arrive daily at the same time from Sunday, July 26, to Friday, July 31, 2026.

Ms. Luhanga said the verification of the ballot papers by stakeholders will begin on Monday, July 27, at the ECZ Silverest Warehouse in Lusaka starting at 10:00 hours.

She added that stakeholders and members of the media wishing to witness or cover the verification exercise must first obtain accreditation from the Commission.

According to Ms. Luhanga, the accreditation process is currently underway at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

The Electoral Commission says the verification exercise forms part of preparations for the 13 August 2026 General Election.
