A quiet night at Chaminuka Resort in Chisamba has turned into a murder investigation after the resort’s Chief Executive Officer, 64-year-old Stelios Sardinis, was killed in an alleged attack.
Police say they are investigating the murder and aggravated robbery following the incident at Sardinis’ residence at the resort.
Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi says the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday 9th August 2026. Sardinis sustained injuries and was rushed to CFB Medical Centre in Lusaka by Chaminuka Resort workers, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police have since processed the scene and detained a security guard who was on duty at the lodge at the time to assist with investigations.
The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the motive and those responsible, remain under investigation.
Chaminuka, located north of Lusaka, is a long-established tourism and wildlife destination that has operated as a lodge since 1998.
