Miles Sampa Demands Retraction, Threatens Legal Action Against Lilian Mutambo

Patriotic Front faction president Miles Sampa says he is ready to defend his reputation in court after his lawyers issued a demand letter accusing social media commentator Lilian Mutambo of publishing defamatory allegations against him.

In a letter dated 20 July 2026, law firm Mutemwa Chambers, acting on behalf of Mr. Sampa, demands that Ms. Mutambo immediately remove the publications, issue an unconditional apology and retraction, and undertake not to publish similar allegations in future.

According to the letter, the publications on the Facebook page "Lily Mutambo TV" accused Mr. Sampa of murdering Ruth Mbandu, causing her death, attempting to conceal an alleged pregnancy through homicide, evading criminal prosecution through political influence, and engaging in criminal and occult practices.

The lawyers describe the allegations as false, malicious and defamatory, stating that Mr. Sampa has never been charged with, convicted of or found responsible for the murder or unlawful killing of Ruth Mbandu or any other person.

The letter gives Ms. Mutambo seven days to comply with several demands, including removing the publications, publishing an apology approved by the lawyers, withdrawing the allegations in writing and preserving all records relating to the publications. It warns that legal proceedings will be commenced if the demands are not met.

In a separate statement posted to his social media account, Mr. Sampa said he welcomed the prospect of the matter being determined by a court.

"To whom it may concern, I look forward to the day in court, be it in Zambia or the UK. This is so the defamatory allegations, which are criminal and evil in nature, that I have been subjected to for years during each election cycle when I am a candidate and recently when I am not a candidate, can finally get substantiated," Sampa said.

He said the court process would provide an opportunity for the allegations made against him over the years to be tested through evidence rather than public accusations.

As of the time of publication, Lilian Mutambo had not publicly responded to the demand letter or Mr. Sampa's statement.

The allegations contained in the publications remain disputed, and no court has determined their truth or falsity.
