Njobvu Wraps Up Eastern Province Campaigns, Traditional Leaders Flag Farming and Infrastructure Challenges

Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu has concluded a campaign tour of Eastern Province as political parties intensify activities ahead of the August 13, 2026 general elections.

During the tour, Mr. Njobvu paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Mbang'ombe of the Chewa-speaking people in Katete District and held meetings with several other traditional leaders in the area. The traditional leaders outlined key challenges affecting communities in the province. They cited the inadequate and late delivery of farming inputs as one of the major setbacks for farmers in the region.

The leaders also raised concerns over limited access to safe and clean drinking water, as well as poor road networks that continue to hinder the transportation of agricultural produce to markets.

Mr. Njobvu assured the traditional leadership that the Democratic Union has a transformative agenda aimed at addressing the country’s pressing problems. He urged residents to support the DU in the upcoming polls, saying the party was offering an alternative for national development.

The DU President’s visit to Eastern Province forms part of activities aligned to the Electoral Commission of Zambia campaign calendar. The party has indicated that it will proceed with rallies and community engagements in other districts within the province before taking the campaigns to other regions in the final days leading up to the elections.
