His full name is Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana. Nasraoui and Ebana are his actual surnames, from his Moroccan father and his mother, whose roots trace to Equatorial Guinea. The story starts before he was even born, when his parents were living in Rocafonda, a working-class part of Mataró, barely getting by. A journalist who wrote a book on Yamal's rise described his parents as anxious first-time parents "living from hand to mouth."
