Kalaba Pledges K2,000 Monthly Cash Transfers, Better Roads for Samfya

SAMFYA – Citizens First Party President Harry Kalaba has criticised the poor state of the Samfya–Chinsanka–Twingi Road, saying the prolonged delay in upgrading the route has negatively affected the lives and livelihoods of residents.

Addressing a campaign rally in Samfya on Monday, Mr. Kalaba said infrastructure development would be among his government's top priorities if elected, arguing that improved roads are essential for economic growth and access to services.

He also described agriculture as the backbone of the local economy and pledged to ensure that farming inputs are delivered to farmers on time to boost agricultural productivity.

On social protection, Mr. Kalaba said the current Social Cash Transfer was inadequate for vulnerable households struggling with the rising cost of living.

He pledged that a Citizens First government would increase the cash transfer from K800 to K2,000 and make the payments monthly.

"The current amount is not enough to meet the basic needs of many families. We will increase the Social Cash Transfer to K2,000 and ensure beneficiaries receive it every month," Mr. Kalaba said.

He said the proposed increase would help restore dignity to vulnerable citizens and provide more meaningful support to households facing economic hardship.

Mr. Kalaba told supporters that infrastructure development, agriculture and strengthened social protection would form key pillars of a Citizens First administration.

He said his party was committed to delivering practical solutions to challenges affecting both rural and urban communities if elected into office.
