Mundubile Urges Hichilema to 'Spare' Gary Nkombo, Says He Fought for His Presidency

Tonse Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to treat former Cabinet Minister Gary Nkombo with respect, saying he was among those who made significant sacrifices before Mr Hichilema became President.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Mwinilunga yesterday, Mr Mundubile said he was concerned by remarks he had heard President Hichilema make about him and Mr Nkombo.

Mr Mundubile said leaders should avoid insulting one another and instead promote truth, peace and unity during the election campaign.

He said Mr Nkombo, together with Newton Samakai, stood by President Hichilema during difficult periods before he assumed office and deserved recognition despite any differences that may now exist.

"Gary Nkombo fought for HH. Like Newton Samakayi fought for HH. Before he became President, he had men that stood by him."

Mr Mundubile urged President Hichilema to "spare these noble men", saying they had suffered and sacrificed for his political journey.

He further announced that a Tonse Alliance government would restore the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance, arguing that it would help promote moral values, respectful leadership and national unity.

Mr Mundubile also rejected claims that a Tonse Alliance government would abolish free education or social cash transfers, saying the programmes would continue if he was elected. He further pledged to increase the social cash transfer from K800 to K1,200.
