President Hakainde Hichilema has urged voters in Chilubi District to vote out incumbent Member of Parliament Mulenga Fube, accusing him of opposing the creation of a new constituency for the area.
Speaking at a campaign rally, President Hichilema claimed that Mr. Fube had argued in Parliament that the people of Chilubi did not need an additional constituency, a move he said denied the district the opportunity to receive increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.
"If you want a new constituency, vote Fube out and elect the UPND candidate," President Hichilema told supporters.
The President said a UPND Member of Parliament, council chairperson and councillors would work with his government to facilitate the creation of a new constituency, which he argued would bring more resources and development to Chilubi.
He further told residents that if they were unhappy about the lack of a new constituency, they should hold their current Member of Parliament accountable, insisting that his government remained committed to expanding development opportunities in the district.
